Mr Mamoon Alyah is a Chartered Electrical Engineer (UK) and a Professional Engineer (USA). With over 38 years of experience, he has been instructed as an expert by clients around the world to prepare expert reports and give evidence in courts and in front of arbitration tribunals in different jurisdictions in the USA, UK, Europe, Middle East, Singapore, Japan and Australia.
He specialises in matters involving the design, installation, commissioning and operation of power systems (generation, transmission and distribution). He is instructed frequently on disputes involving power plants (thermal, PV, Solar CSP, Wind, geothermal and hydro) in addition to substations (transmission and distribution). Additionally, he is also a recognised expert in the investigation of failures in power transformers, cables (EHV, HV, MV and LV), switchgear assemblies, rotating machinery (generators, motors, gas and steam turbines) in addition to other types of equipment. His clients include power utilities in many countries, suppliers of electrical equipment, and EPC contractors on various infrastructure projects.
Mr Alyah has investigated numerous complex failures and incidents in turbines (gas and steam), wind power (onshore and offshore), solar power (PV and CSP), power transformers, cables (underground and overhead) in addition to other electrical and mechanical systems. Mr Alyah is an authority on the application of electrical regulations and codes in different jurisdictions, in addition to international standards covering different types of electrical systems.
As the Managing Director and Principal Engineer of CEERISK Consulting, Mr Alyah is responsible for managing expert engineering services provided by other experts in different disciplines, including mechanical engineering, building systems, chemical engineering, civil/structural engineering, hydrology, metallurgy, petrochemical engineering and welding. He provides peer review of expert reports to ensure thoroughness and compliance with applicable rules of evidence.
Mr Alyah is a frequent speaker at leading industry organisations where he shares experiences related to expert witness services in addition to the investigation of engineering incidents and failures in complex electrical systems.
