Details

I work as a NHS Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Lingen Davies cancer Centre, Shropshire, U.K.

I have 12 years experience as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist, specializing in head and neck cancer, breast cancer and non-melanomatous skin cancer. My Specialist Registrar training in clinical oncology on the West Midlands (U.K) training scheme commenced in August 2008. This structured training programme led to a CCT in clinical oncology on 30th September 2013.

Throughout my training and consultant posting I have gained comprehensive experience in the care and management of cancer patients, I am very experienced in both systemic anti cancer therapy (SACT) including cytotoxic chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted therapy. I am also experienced in modern radiotherapy techniques including intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiotherapy, VMAT is standard for all radical head and neck patients. I also perform SARR (stereotactic body radiotherapy) for lung and bone (non – spine). I am also experienced in conformal radiotherapy. I have demonstrated my commitment to each sub-site with publications, presentations and relevant courses and subsequently obtaining a consultant post treating these subsites.

It is my belief that both active participation and development of clinical trials is critical to the improvement of patient outcomes, to drive standards and future successful cancer management. I am Principal Investigator for a number of recruiting  trials and have been invited to Trial Management Groups.

I have spoken at both regional and national meetings on the treatment of breast cancer.

I have been an invited speaker on two tours of India in 2024 sharing expert knowledge of identifying and treating high risk early breast cancer.

I undertook a one year Trust approved travelling sabbatical August 2025 - 2026 for global travel.

I held the position of Clinical Director for more than 3 years and left the oncology department through the Covid-19 pandemic.

I have previously held the position of Head of Service (radiotherapy) at SaTH accountable to the Royal College of Radiologists. I set up local weekly radiotherapy quality assurance meetings; which provide a forum to discuss complex radiotherapy, allowing education and consensus for all, which have been successful to date. This is best practice and I have built on previous published experience.

I have previously been clinical lead for acute oncology, this involved liaising with acute specialties to ensure cancer patients receive best care when admitted acutely.
