Stephen Hawes is a multi-Chartered construction professional, Chartered Building Engineer and practising expert witness with over 17 years’ experience across construction, surveying and property.
As Managing Director of Stephen Hawes & Co. Chartered Building Consultancy, a RICS regulated multidisciplinary practice, Stephen accepts expert witness instructions in Party Wall etc. Act 1996 matters, building defects, defect analysis and building pathology, housing disrepair, boundary disputes, RICS Red Book valuation matters and construction-related disputes.
His expert work combines practical site experience with detailed inspection, technical analysis and independent professional judgment. He prepares clear, properly reasoned expert reports addressing matters including condition, causation, remedial requirements, liability and quantum where these fall within the scope of the instruction.
Stephen is experienced in working with solicitors, counsel, property owners, landlords, tenants, developers and other professional parties, and understands the importance of distinguishing fact, assumption, inference and expert opinion within evidence prepared for proceedings.
He has completed the Cardiff University Bond Solon Civil Expert Witness Certificate and has undertaken further expert witness training with the Academy of Experts. Stephen is also a published contributor on surveying, construction, professional practice and expert evidence.
