MSC Psychology, PG Dip in CBT, completed all parts of EMDR training
Colchester, Nationwide
I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist specialising in the treatment of trauma-related psychological difficulties, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I have over a decade’s experience working within NHS Talking Therapies services and private practice, supporting adults experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties.
I hold an MSc in Psychology from Oxford Brookes University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London. I have completed EMDR training with the EMDR Academy and undertaken additional specialist trauma training, including Cognitive Therapy for PTSD, Cognitive Therapy for Complex PTSD, Compassion Focused Therapy, Compassionate Resilience for Complex PTSD, and trauma-focused interventions for survivors of rape and sexual assault.
My specialist interest is the treatment of PTSD and trauma-related difficulties following distressing or life-changing events. I have extensive experience supporting individuals who have developed psychological difficulties following road traffic collisions, physical assaults and sexual assaults.
Alongside my NHS experience, I have worked in private practice for over five years, providing specialist psychological therapy for clients referred through rehabilitation and personal injury pathways. A significant proportion of this work has involved supporting individuals experiencing PTSD and trauma-related difficulties following road traffic collisions. I have experience providing clinical summaries and treatment reports where appropriate, and understand the importance of clear communication with professional referrers while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries.
Through my NHS Talking Therapies work, I have also developed extensive experience supporting asylum seekers and refugees presenting with trauma-related difficulties. This has included working therapeutically with interpreters and adapting evidence-based psychological interventions to ensure they are accessible and culturally sensitive.
I provide structured, evidence-based psychological therapy tailored to each individual’s presentation, drawing primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). My approach is informed by current NICE recommendations and focuses on alleviating symptoms and supporting positive change in people’s lives.
I offer face-to-face appointments in Colchester city centre and secure online sessions where clinically appropriate. I welcome referrals from solicitors, insurers, rehabilitation providers and other healthcare professionals seeking specialist trauma-focused therapy for their clients.
