Sheweidin Aziz is a full-time consultant spinal surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester, with specialist interests in metastatic spinal disease, cauda equina syndrome, and degenerative spinal pathologies. She has presented her work nationally and internationally, received awards for her research, and contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications. Her research portfolio is extensive, with particular interests in metastatic spinal disease and cauda equina syndrome.
Miss Aziz currently serves as Audit Lead for the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department and remains actively involved in service development and clinical governance. She is also committed to undergraduate and postgraduate education, regularly contributing to teaching programmes, interview panels, and revision courses. Her dedication to medical education was recognised with the Outstanding Clinical Teacher Award from the University of Leicester Medical School.
Miss Aziz was privileged to be among the first cohort of Spinal Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellows in the UK. During her TIG fellowship, she gained broad experience in paediatric deformity, spinal trauma, primary spinal tumours, and degenerative spinal conditions. She subsequently completed a prestigious spinal fellowship at the Leeds Centre for Neurosciences, further consolidating her subspecialist expertise before commencing her consultant career at the University Hospitals of Leicester.
