I am a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Major Trauma with over 14 years of Consultant experience and 24 years of clinical practice. I thave trained in England and Australia. My work combines rigorous medical expertise with a clear understanding of the legal processes, enabling me to provide impartial, accurate, and actionable expert reports.
I am Bond Solon trained CPR Part 35 Compliant Expert Witness.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in emergency and trauma care across leading UK hospitals, including international experience in major trauma and trauma surgery. This clinical background underpins every expert report, review, and strategic consultation I provide.
I ensure that every report, assessment and opinion set are thorough and comprehensive. I have a proven track record of providing detailed and helpful reports as well as successfully standing and delivering expert testimony as a witness in courts. I have been directly instructed by HM Coroners in my NHS and expert witness roles.
What example clinical conditions & scenarios can be explored?
Failure to Diagnose, Admit, Treat or Refer when suffering a life-threatening illness/injury or Emergency
Missed fractures & emergency fracture management including scaphoid fractures
Missed or delay to diagnosis of medical emergencies e.g. Sepsis, ACS, Stroke, Meningitis, Necrotising Fasciitis, Cauda Equina Syndrome, Perforated Bowel
Missed or delay to diagnosis of DVT and Pulmonary Embolism
Failure to correctly diagnose condition / injury due to failure to request X-rays, CT scans or MRI scans
Triage categorisation and prioritisation errors
Discharge decisions and safety netting
Treatment of head injuries
Treatment of limb and soft tissue injuries
Wrong diagnosis leading to incorrect treatment which can worsen the injury / illness
Mr. Maitra provides both brief initial reports at fixed cost or full CPR Part 35 reports on the standard of care on the above and other conditions seen within the Emergency Department
Criminal Expert reporting
I can provide you with expert evidence on the causation of injuries incurred as a result of possible criminal activity
This includes injuries caused by blunt and sharp injuries, human and animal bites.
