I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon since 2001, firstly in The Defence Medical Services after 19 years of active duty in The Royal Navy, then in Leicester since 2005.
My areas of expertise lie in surgical andrology and genito-urinary reconstructive service, leading this service since 2015. I formed and lead one of the largest penile cancer networks in the UK. My private practice mirrored this but also included more general urology.
I have held several, mostly peer-elected, Regional , National and International leadership roles (please see below and my CV) the most recent as President of The Federation of Surgical Specialty Associations (2020-2023) at which I represented all 10 GMC-recognised surgical specialties and liaised with the 4 Surgical Royal Colleges and other National agencies. I have extensive experience in eduction at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Promoted by the University of Leicester to Honorary Professor in 2021, I was awarded BAUS Gold Medal in 2022. I have presented and published widely and reviewed for several journals.
Member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) 1996-date, Chair of BAUS section of Andrology 2011-13, BAUS Secretarry 2015-17, President 2018-20. European Association of Urology (EAU) 1996-date, Chair of EAU Guidelines Panel on Urological Trauma 2009-15 Panel member on NCRI penile cancer steering group until 2023; RCSEng Workforce and training committee member 2021-2023; Executive Board Member, Confederation of British Surgery (CBS) ; Member of Intercollegiate Committee for SAS education board 2021-2023 RCSEng Council Member 2020-2023. Chair of East Midlands Regional training Committee (Urology 2009-22). FRCS(Urol,) examiner, then assessor, then lead assessor 2008-date.
