Dr Edwin Osakwe

15 years’ experience as a Consultant General Paediatrician. I have gained extensive experience in all aspects of General Paediatrics including child safeguarding.

I am a General Paediatrician with a special interest in the management of medical complications of eating disorders. I have worked in many multi-disciplinary teams with colleagues from Hospital-based specialties to those in primary care and in the community. I have ensured that my practice is up to date and worked hard to practice Evidence Based Medicine. I practice reflective learning, self-directed learning, open discussion of cases and attend courses, seminars and meetings.

I regularly initiate feedback, as I am keen to learn from others. I have assumed responsibilities in Teaching, Leadership and Management. I was the Clinical Lead for my department between 2019 and 2024. I know how to respond in complex medical and psychosocial situations and when to seek help and how to find legal and ethical guidelines to assist my practice. I regularly undertake annual appraisals and maintain an up-to-date CPD diary as per RCPCH recommendations. I am also a designated Consultant appraiser, clinical supervisor , educational supervisor and medical student tutor.
