Helen Jefferies qualified in 2002 and is an experienced Midwife Sister with particular interests in high risk deliveries, family planning, clinic work, reproductive health, teenage pregnancy and the sexual health and education of youth.

She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all areas of midwifery from ante natal, birth to post natal care. Her midwifery roles have gained her invaluable experience in all aspects of both community and hospital care. In particular managing and coordinating a maternity unit in a busy London teaching hospital. Helen is proficient in using Stan ctg analysis and is qualified in examination of the newborn. Due to seniority, Helen is mainly involved in HDU, triaging women and assisting in high risk pregnancy and labour, often supervising junior staff.

Helen has developed a passion for legal and ethical issues in medical care, which has led her into a MA in Medical Law and Ethics, which in turn led to start her Bond Solon Expert Witness training. Helen is now CUBS accredited, having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills for medico-legal report writing with understanding of pt35 rules and her duty to the court.

Helen has written approx 35 reports to date consisting of providing honest and reliable opinion on midwifery, professional standards and clinical negligence with instructions evenly split between claimant and defendant. She has given oral evidence in the past. She has been instructed in cases by the NMC involving misconduct, cases involving CTG analysis, postnatal complications, labour management and antenatal care provided.

Helen undertakes legal aid work at a reduced rate and is able to take on work on a nationwide basis.
