Mr  Nadir Osman is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. He is a recognised expert in urological diseases and has specialist interests in urinary tract reconstruction, working within a team that provides an internationally recognised tertiary referral service. His areas of specialist expertise are in the treatment of urethral strictures, complex incontinence, urinary fistula, refractory bladder problems and urinary tract injuries arising from trauma or surgery.

Specialist knowledge and expertise includes;
- Gynaecological and other surgical injury to the urinary tract
- Fistula
- Urinary tract trauma
- Neuro-urology
- Urological consequences of spinal cord injury and cauda equina syndrome.
- Bladder overdistention
- Pelvic fracture injuries resulting in urinary and sexual problems
- Urethral catheter related injuries
- Incontinence surgery
- Circumcision related problems

He is also able to report on general urology such as:
- Missed Torsion
- Vasectomy
- Benign prostate surgery
- Delayed diagnosis

Mr Osman has a longstanding interest in the medico-legal issues in urology and has undertaken specialist training in medico-legal report writing. He is aware of the requirements of Part 35 and Practice Direction 35, the Protocol for the Instruction of Experts to Give Evidence in Civil Claims and the practice direction on pre-action conduct. Mr Osman keeps up to date with medicolegal developments, he published the first national analysis of urological litigation in the UK (Osman NI, Collins GN. Urological litigation in the UK National Health Service (NHS): an analysis of 14 years of successful claims. BJU Int 2011;108:162-5). This has become the most widely cited work on the topic.

Mr Osman has undertaken research into tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for urinary tract and pelvic reconstruction leading to the award of a PhD (2014). He regularly acts as an investigator in clinical trials for lower urinary tract disorders and has presented his research at national and international meetings, in addition to giving invited presentations. Mr Osman has published over 90 articles as well as 20 book chapters and 3 books.
