Sue has over 30 years of experience in the field of noise and vibration, including measurement and assessment of exposures and advice on control methods.
Before joining Finch, Sue worked at the research facilities of the Health and Safety Executive covering all aspects of occupational exposures to hand-arm vibration and noise, progressing through the grades until becoming Noise and Vibration Technical Team Lead in 2015.
As a research scientist for HSE and external clients, Sue was responsible for research project design, implementation and management, interpretation of results and production of reports as well as disseminating the findings through publications and presentations at conferences. She has been responsible for most of the hand-arm vibration research work that has informed HSE policy over the last 20 years.
As Noise and Vibration Technical Team Lead, Sue managed all aspects of the team’s performance including line management of the team members, resource management, project management and planning the strategic direction of research as a member of HSE’s noise and vibration steering group, in addition to continuing scientific research activities.
Sue also carried out audits of HSE Science Division’s quality procedures as an LRQA trained quality auditor and was an editorial reviewer for scientific research reports across the breadth of topics covered in the laboratory.
