Mr Roger Oliver Plail is a Consultant Urologist at the Sussex Premier Health Hospital with over 30 years experience as a Consultant Urologist at East Sussex Healthcare Trust, Conquest Hospital Hastings and Eastbourne District General Hospital.
He has extensive general urological experience and surgical practice in both open and laparoscopic procedures. He has particular specialisation in Endoscopic Urology, Urological Oncology, Female Continence, Erectile Dysfunction and Vasectomy Reversal.
Mr Plail has been in Medicolegal practice for over 20 years, undertaking work for instructing agencies including: Premex +, Speed Medical, UKIM and the GMC, with direct referrals from solicitors including: Fletchers, Slater Gordon and Simpson Millar.
He has extensive experience in litigation for both claimant and defendant; he has a particular interest in iatrogenic trauma to the urinary tract.
He has undertaken a large number of Personal Injury cases on behalf of the claimant. These are often complex with associated brain injury and significant spinal and pelvic injuries with consequent upper and lower limb neurological damage and associated damage to bladder, bowel and sexual function.
He has experience in the criminal court including acting for the defendant in cases of allegations of sexual misconduct associated with concomitant alleged sexual dysfunction. He works on criminal cases on behalf of Foresight agency. He has experience in being cross examined.
Mr Plail obtained the CUBS Cardiff University Bond Solon certification and has completed training with the Society of Mediators for Civil cases. He remains current with CPD compliance.
Mr Plail has extensive experience in medical education and has convened international meetings through the Royal Society of Medicine Section of Urology. He has also been a regular contributor to Urological training through BAUS, the British Association of Urological Surgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons. He has reviewed publications submitted to the British Journal of Urology International.
