Dr Singh Gahir is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist in part-time private practice since July 2015, and also works at Mental Health Services at Rampton Hospital, Retford, Notts. He is also Lead Consultant at High Secure Deaf Service, at Rampton Hospital.

Dr Singh Gahir has expertise in assessing people presenting with a wide range of mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety and phobic disorders, alcohol misuse, chronic fatigue syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis and psychological difficulties. With a special interest and expertise in assessing people suffering from work-related stress and its psychiatric and psychological consequences.

Dr Singh Gahir has appeared as an Expert Witness in numerous cases involving both Deaf and hearing people. These have been in civil and criminal Courts, mainly in the areas of mentally disordered offenders, sex offenders and in Child & Family cases. In addition, he has experience of preparing Psychiatric Reports for civil litigation, clinical negligence and personal injury cases, in criminal and immigration cases, Housing and in assessments for appeals to the Benefits Agency. He also provide reports for Occupational Health.

Referrals are regularly received from occupational health physicians, personnel departments and solicitors.

GMC Registration Number, 3277665 (Full Registration) MPS No. 160150 Since 2004, Dr Singh Gahir has been a member of the British Society of Mental Health and Deafness and in 2008, He was elected as the UK representative to the European Society. This involves attending the BSMHD quarterly meetings and the ESMHD Annual Conference, where he has spoken about Deafness and Offending.
