Mark Shaw is a Chartered Surveyor with over 35 Years experience, dealing with all types of commercial and residential property in Central and Greater London as well as the Home Counties.

He is an equity director of Strettons and heads the Valuation and Advisory Services Department which specialises in Valuation, Landlord & Tenant, Expert Witness and Leasehold Reform. Mark has particular responsibility for the Expert Witness and commercial Landlord and Tenant teams.

Mark has extensive expert witness experience, in relation to a variety of property valuation related cases involving both commercial and residential property. He is instructed by solicitors and insurers acting for both Claimants and Defendants. Typical cases relate to allegations of professional negligence against solicitors or surveyors or where mortgage fraud is suspected. Other cases include matrimonial and other property related disputes, where he is often appointed as a Single Joint Expert. He has given evidence at the High Court and County Court both in Central London and in the outer courts and has participated in the mediation process.

Areas of Expertise
1. Acting as an expert witness in relation to property related disputes over rental and capital value, both commercial and residential. He prepare current and retrospective CPR compliant expert witness reports as well as Joint Statements and given evidence as required in the High and County Courts.

2. He acts for landlords and tenants in commercial rent review and lease renewal disputes and deals with arbitration and independent expert referrals as well as Professional Arbitration on Court Terms (PACT). Apart from the usual range of commercial properties, he has particular expertise in D1 properties.

3. He receive regular appointments from the Dispute Resolution Service of the RICS to act as arbitrator or independent expert in commercial rent review disputes.
