Provides expert forensic services to criminal defence solicitors in cases involving alleged offences under The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. Undertakes reviews of Prosecution scientist's work in the following areas; (a) analysis of drugs of abuse/adulterants/bulking agents (b) measurements of drug purities (c) traces of drugs on exhibits including banknotes (d) physical and chemical comparisons of drug materials and associated packaging materials (e) assessments of cannabis cultivation scenes and estimations of yields from crops of plants grown (f) investigations of the illicit production of amphetamine, methylamphetamine and other synthetic drugs.
