Dr. Ravi Ayer

Dr Ravi Ayer has been a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Poole Hospital NHS Trust since 2012; he also consults at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital and BMI Healthcare The Harbour Hospital, Poole. He has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists since 2009. He is an experienced radiologist for diagnosis, treatment and screening. He is responsible for the assessment and treatment of both traumatic and non-trauma musculoskeletal conditions. His expertise covers musculoskeletal trauma, fractures and soft tissue injury; spinal trauma; bone and soft tissue cancer; sports injury; musculoskeletal infection; degenerative musculoskeletal disease; rheumatological disease. - Skilled in the interpretation and usage of Computed Tomography (CT Scans), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound (US), Fluoroscopy and Arthrography as applied to musculoskeletal radiology. - Specialist knowledge of various clinical procedures including therapeutic joint injection; disc biopsy and nerve root-blockage in relation to the spine; tendon therapy including barbotage therapy for calcific tendonitis; CT and Fluoroscopic soft tissue and bone biopsy. Dr Ayer has also contributed teaching, presentations, articles and audits for his profession, and is joint author of the book Frameworks for Radiology Reporting (Hodder Publishing 2009).
