Forensic Pathologists

The Wales Institute of Forensic Medicine is based at the University Hospital of Wales and is part of Cardiff University. The four Home Office registered forensic pathologists have wide autopsy experience and are available to provide opinions on all aspects of forensic pathology. Particular areas of interest include: sharp force injury; pressure on the neck; infant deaths; drug-related deaths; vertebral artery injury; deaths following medical intervention. The Institute employs a photographer/illustrator to facilitate court presentation of evidence.The Institute has access to extensive library facilities and consultants in other specialities e.g. neuropathology,paediatric pathology. Second post-mortems can be carried out but not if a WIFM colleague carried out the first pm
