Professor Cumming has over fifty years’ medical experience and has been a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons since 1959. He is a member of numerous learned societies and associations and is a former past president of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. In 1998 he was awarded the Order of Australia Award (AM) for his services to medicine, particularly through teaching and the practice of orthopaedic surgery in Australia and through the orthopaedic training scheme in Indonesia and Pacific countries.
