A member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia since 1976 and a member of the Forensic Accounting Special Interest group of the Institute. Mr Burns is a Registered Tax Agent with the Australian Taxation Office and is a Registered Company Auditor with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. He has acted as a consultant to the Insurance Commission of WA and their various acting solicitors in respect to motor vehicle accident cases involving loss of earnings. Mr Burns has also acted as a consultant in matters relating to small businesses, evidence gathering and litigation support.
