I have been heavily involved in the establishment of the subspecialty of Gynaecological Oncology in the Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, as well as pioneering the specialty in South Australia. This includes elements of radical pelvis surgery, involving the genitals, gastro-intestine and urinary tract, as well as chemotherapy and understanding of the role of radiation therapy. I was part of the founding committee of the Australian Society of Gynaecological Oncologists, as the inaugural Secretary/Treasurer, and later Chairman. I am also an inaugural member of the International Gynaecologic Cancer Society. I have Chaired the NHMRC working party for the development of Guidelines for the management of Epithelial Ovarian Cancer (adopted 2005). Also on the executive of the NHMRC working party for Management of Screen Detected abnormalities of the Cervix (adopted 2006). Number of reports undertaken, typically kept to one per month.
