The British Woodworking Federation is the trade association and public voice for the woodworking and joinery manufacturing industry in the UK. It provides a number of services to members including technical support part of which is the provision of a site inspection service. This service is available to non-members as well as members. The technical support is provided to to cover such products as timber doors, including fire doors, windows, conservatories, staircases, all forms of architectural joinery including shopfitting, timber frame buildings and engineered timber components. The Federation also takes a leading role in the development of British and European product standards in joinery and participates in industry research projects. This provides a unique source of technical knowledge when providing advice. The site inspection service includes visiting site, inspection of the problem and the preparation of a written report. The BWF offers a wide range of services to its members, covering industry and product promotion, wider business-related services, the promotion of enhanced quality and standards in the industry through its product promotion schemes for timber windows and fire doors and the BWF Code of Conduct, and a range of events and activities.
