Dr Janis Fairbairn is a clinical psychologist. She is a member of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and has 20 years experience in alcohol and other drug abuse fields, cross cultural adult education, the design and presentation of group therapy programs, research and evaluation, and policy development. She has presented her work with relatives of excessive alcohol and drug users nationally and internationally. As a contract counsellor with the Vietnam Veterans Counselling Service and Veterans Affairs, she also specialises in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Her therapeutic approach is predominantly cognitive behavioural, complemented with ideas from stress and coping transactional theory, systems theory, personal construct psychology, and energy therapies.
