Mr Barry Francis

Consultant Podiatrist: specialising in podiatric surgery and biomechanics in Central and North London. I have had more than 40 years experience working within the NHS and private sector. I have been providing Medico Legal Reports for the past 20 years.  

 I was formerly a tutor and examiner for the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery of the Royal College of Podiatry. I am a past Chair of the Professional Conduct Committee of the RCP and remain an Honorary Vice President. I am a former member of the British Olympic Medical Teams, 1984 & 1988.  I am a former member of the British Commonwealth Medical Team 1986. I have also been retained by the Lawn Tennis Association. 

I have been instructed by the Health Ombudsman and the HCPC. 

My areas of special interest are foot surgery, biomechanics, gait analysis, and complications of chiropody including diabetic patients.

I have been published in the British Podiatric Press and was a contributor to a major work in foot surgery and medicine 'The Foot edited by Helal & Wilson'.  I was a contributor to 'Forensic Gait Analysis edited by HD Kelly 2020' and to the 9th Edition of 'Neales Disorders of the Foot and Ankle'.

In the last year I have received approximately 98 instructions dealing with medical negligence, personal injury and forensic gait analysis. I have given evidence in court on a number of occasions. I have represented both Plaintiff and Defendant.

I am active in the field of forensic gait analysis and I have been instructed by the Prosecution and Defence both in the UK and abroad.
