Meet the speaker: Mr Justice Waksman

Bond Solon are delighted that Mr Justice Waksman, Judge in Charge of the Technology and Construction Court, has kindly agreed to speak at the conference.
As well as his current role, he has worked on many of the recent innovations in civil court procedure pertinent to expert witnesses, including: concurrent expert evidence "hot tubbing," costs budgeting, costs capping and review of witness statements.
At this year's conference, Mr Justice Waksman will look at matters of relevance to experts including:
• How a judge prepares for a hearing
• How much detail should be in an expert's report
• What a judge looks for from an expert's report
• How judges compare experts and their evidence
2025 conference highlights include:
• Mark McDonald, defence barrister representing Lucy Letby
• Jason Beer KC, counsel to the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry
• The debate: Gunjan Sharma, partner in Volterra Fietta and a New York-qualified attorney against Patrick Heneghan, commercial barrister and head of commercial at 3PB, will discuss the UK vs the US approach to witness preparation, and which is best
• Nick Deal, barrister and lead expert witness trainer for Bond Solon, delivering the Annual Legal Update for Experts
• James McCreath, barrister at Wilberforce Chambers, will discuss the importance of double checking all aspects of your expert report
• Dr Jock Mackenzie, medical doctor and solicitor, William Latimer-Sayer, KC and Holly King, chartered physiotherapist, will jointly run the medico-legal parallel session
• Kirsty Brimelow KC, vice chair of the Bar Council, will lead the criminal parallel session
• Lois Langton, head of family law and partner, and Katherine Res Pritchard, family law partner, both of Howard Kennedy, will jointly run the family parallel session
• Vlad Meerovich and Sarah Gabriel, partners at Peters & Peters, will jointly run the commercial parallel session
